“Despite a challenging start to the year, the continued sunshine has bought the harvest date in line with where we like to be (mid-September).
Warm temperatures and sunlight have allowed excellent fruit development, with our early ripening varieties going through veraison. Near-perfect conditions at flowering means we’re seeing good-sized bunches and promising yields across all varieties.
As always, we remain vigilant due to high-disease pressure this year, we’ve employed many mechanical processes to ensure prevention across the Estate. The term ‘coiled-spring’ comes to mind at the moment, we can’t wait to get harvest started!!”
In other news, we are proud to be listed with Plant Heritage for our vines that have been planted at New Hall since 1968. Our collection of Vitis vinifera have been registered for decades; what an honour.
Richard Wollaston, Chairman of Essex Plant Heritage visited New Hall Wine Estate this month to present Andy with a plaque celebrating our long-standing collection. The National Plant Collection is a registered and documented collection of a group of plants through Plant Heritage. These can be linked botanically by plant group, or perhaps have a shared history or geography.
Having our vines as part of this registered conservation scheme ensures that they will be a resource for generations to come.

This post gives a clear sense of how much work goes into a good harvest. Updates from the vineyard are always engaging, and accessible platforms like ubg123 offer another easy way for people to spend a relaxed moment online.
It is nice to read a direct update from someone working among the vines. The seasonal details make the wine process feel more personal, just like small interactive projects such as thirdle can make online time more engaging.
Andy’s update makes the vineyard work feel very real, especially with the weather and harvest timing involved. Casual games like sweardle are another simple way to relax after reading something like this.
This was a pleasant vineyard update. Watching the season develop step by step takes patience, and simple word games like septle also offer a nice slow moment to think and unwind.
I like how this update connects the season, the vines, and the people working behind the scenes. Wine and food culture always pair well, which also makes me think of fun themed projects like phoodlegame.
