Here's what the judges had to say;

A Gold medal white blend that demonstrates excellent balance, aromatic complexity and integration. Its refined, fresh and well-judged style makes it a standout example of multi-varietal aromatic blending, with both technical quality and strong consumer appeal.

A refined, aromatic white blend with floral, citrus and stone fruit notes. Balanced, fresh and elegantly textured, with a clean, persistent finish: A polished and high-quality Gold medal wine.

Pinot Precoce Rose
2025 Vintage

Here's what the judges had to say;

A solid Silver-level rosé, offering fresh fruit, good balance and strong drinkability. While relatively simple, it’s well executed and appealing, with lively acidity and clean profile driving its obvious appeal and quality.

A fresh, fruit-driven rosé with strawberry and cherry notes, bright acidity and an easy-drinking style. Clean and balanced, with a satisfying - if short - finish.

On the palate, the wine is clean with intensity - it’s fruit-forward and refreshing in style. The red berry fruit carries through clearly, supported by lively acidity providing energy and lift. This wine is an approachable, very easy-drinking, appealing expression.

2026 IEWA - Independent English Wine Awards - Bronze Award

Bacchus Fume
2024 Vintage

Here's what the judges had to say;

A Bronze-level Bacchus (Fumé) with some appealing aromatic elements and texture, but limited by stylistic ambiguity, muted fruit and moderate balance. Greater clarity and refinement will elevate quality. It feels like the raw materials are here.

A textured Bacchus with apple, herbal and light toffee notes, but lacking clear fumé character. Slightly heavy and muted, with moderate balance and a somewhat disjointed finish.

Now in its 3rd year the standard at the Essex Wine Award's is very high, as they are judged at the same level as International wine competitions (Decanter/IWC).

Pinot Precoce Rose 2024 Vintage

Here's what the judges had to say;

Summer and candied red fruit, balanced, well made, enjoyable, red fruit, fresh, easy drinking, and elegant.

Nice refreshing rose slightly caught between delicate light and full, spicy and rich. Well made, Very drinkable.

Lovely strawberry notes on the nose and a fresh vibrant acidity on the palate.

Fruity and approachable, lovely colour, delicate red fruit. Nice acidity but would prefer it to be drier, plenty of overall appeal.

Lots of up front fruit on nose, some nice confection. Palate is fine, easy drinking.

Pinot Noir Precoce 2024 Vintage

Here's what the judges had to say;

Wonderful colour and nose, with vibrancy and crunchy red fruit.

Colour, nose and juicy, green notes with a light and fresh palate.

Lovely nose, clean, fresh, vibrant

Really lovely nose.

2024 London Wine Competition - Silver Award

New Hall Single Estate Bacchus 2022 vintage

Here's what the judges had to say;

'Ripe, citrus fruit aromas of lemon, lime.

Flavours of orchard fruit, lemongrass and grapefruit.

The palate is crispy and fresh with high acidity and medium finish.'

Quintessential English Bacchus with a twist of the new world, made with fruit from various vineyard locations on the estate, including some of the oldest vines in the country.

2024 IEWA - Independent English Wine Awards - Silver Award

Barons Lane Red 2022 vintage

Here's what the judges had to say;

'Beautiful big nose, and attractive palate. So much lifted black fruit.

Nicely balanced with a silky smooth finish
Really well made. Good tannin extraction and quite fruity. A touch short on the palate.

Impressively well-made, tasty red, light but with fruit richness, and no unpleasant phenolics you sometimes get with Germanic reds. Well done!'

Barons Lane Signature 2022 vintage

Here's what the judges had to say;

'Pretty, super-clean nose, with really pure citrus fruits. A well-balanced, easy-drinking smasher.
Busy but rewarding aromatics; some fruit, some pithy character, subtle herbal notes, slightly green, and elegance.

Palate is clean and bright, tight, lemony, fresh. Easy, delicate and simple, with a slight saline note.
Nose is decent and has some nettle and apple fruit. Palate is simple but clean and straight forward. Quite textural. Some lees contact.
Lemon and grapefruit flavours are working well, with some pith and texture. Does a really good job of being a simple wine.'

'Lovely floral nose.
Pleasant confected fruits on the palette.'

We love our Barons Lane Rose, with a pale salmon hue, our Barons Rose is packed full of summer fruits, red apple, white peach with a slight creaminess and a tart balanced finish.
